It’s beginning to get cold and dark here in Scotland.  Happens every year.  The shops are already filling up with Christmas chocolates.  That’s how it starts.  Over the next 3 months the bars will get busier.  So will the chemists – everybody catches a cold.  The gym is already getting quieter. If January is the time for goals, health-kicks and self-improvement, the 4th quarter seems to be the time to get fat, sick and tired.

Time to stress-out, overspend and overindulge. For most, when January does come, it brings a depressing sense of déjà-vu.  It’s cold and dark, Christmas has gone, and we’re left with the realisation that nothing has changed.  We’re making the same old goals again.  The gym is packed and we’ve got the January blues.  Some people don’t even bother trying anymore.

But what if we did it differently?

What if?

What if we realised there’s still a whole quarter of the year left?

What if we didn’t let up?

What if we didn’t wait until January?

What if our year started now?

What if we took this moment to re-focus on what’s important to us?

What if we wrote down some goals?

What if we wrote an inspiring list of reasons to follow through?

What if we reviewed that list daily?

What if we committed to just one consistent, positive action?

What if we did that every day or every week?

What if, rather than get fat, sick and tired this winter, we finished the year on a high?

What if we started eating better now?

What if we knuckled down to our exercise programme now?

What if we arrived in January in great shape, rather than join the masses in their increasingly desperate, annual weight-loss ritual?

What if we finished strong?

What if we got to the end of the year with a sense of accomplishment?

What if we burst into the new year with momentum?

It’s not too late.   I challenge you to finish strong.  Don’t be one of the January masses insanely following the same old pattern year on year.  Self-improvement is a matter of choice, not calendar.  Be different.  Start now.  Finish strong.

Always Keep Reaching!
